Made me laugh when the nurse read saying she thought my thyroid was a little low as my the readings are as follows

TSH ( 92.95)

T4 (6.4)

This is after being on 175 mcg levo for god knows how low long hence the reason she whacked my levo up to 225mcg and funnily I'm not feeling any different. When I get enough money I will have to pay private to get this complete blood panel to be done. I'm no expert on results but surely these results are not right. Am looking in to trying ND does anyone think this is advisable see as levo is obviously is not working for me. Oh just another question does this look like hashimotos thyroiditis? ?? X ty in advance. I was told they were the only 2 results they had checked. X

Razzar, I've deleted your duplicate post about the test results.

Something's gone horribly wrong for TSH to shoot up to 92.95 on 175mcg Levothyroxine. There's absolutely no point in testing FT3 when TSH is so high, FT3 will be low. It doesn't necessarily indicate Hashimoto's. That is determined by thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobuliin antibody testing and/or ultrasound scan showing Hashimoto's damage to the thyroid gland.

Have you recently been prescribed any medication which might be interfering with Levothyroxine absorption? And are you taking Levothyroxine with water on an empty stomach one hour before, or two hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medicines and supplements and, 4 hours away from iron, calcium, vitamin D and oestrogen.

Even if you aren't observing the above it shouldn't have such an effect on TSH.

Something I have seen before is heterophile antibodies interfering with TSH analysis. It gives a false high reading until the antibody interference is removed. See this thread

I have been taking my med's late at night with water before I go to bed as I heard it can help . I am a insomniac and can never sleep properly . I'm losing the will to live . As for other med's I take them at breakfast time . I feel so ill that sometimes is it really worth it. 12 years I have struggled . I just don't know what to do anymore. I got constant chest pain which makes me feel the worse. All the time x

Razzar, the dose increase should help raise FT4 and reduce TSH. If the next results are still abnormal your GP should refer you to endocrinology for investigation. It would be a good idea for GP to do a coeliac screen to rule out coeliac disease causing malabsorption of Levothyroxine.

I forgot to mention I have Inflammatory bowel disease would this be a huge impact? X Good I feel so thick and stupid .

Razzar, If it has gotten worse so that it is affecting absorption of Levothyroxine it maybe why. Don't see why you should feel stupid though.

How long ago was your previous thyroid test and what was TSH?

The results I sent you were done about 3 weeks ago. She upped the dose and said see her again in 3 months x

Razzar, I meant the test before TSH was 92.

3 months is too long to wait for a retest. Go back in 8 weeks.

You are clearly not absorbing the levothyroxine and need to see a gastroenterologist rather than an endocrinologist (for the moment). If you are not absorbing the levothyroxine you could have numerous other nutritional issues. So they need to give your IBD priority. There is also the risk that if you go on very high doses of levothyroxine and the IBD resolves you could become hyperthyroid. At the moment your absorption of levothyroxine will be very irratic. Once the IBD issue has been improved (perhaps can't cure?) then the thyroid can be addressed more successfully.
