My doctor told me it was ok to chew and swallow tablets. My sister is on thyroxine she said her doctor told her the tablets must be taken with fluid and swallowed. reason was it dissolves better in the system. which comment is correct. I wrote this because we are all looking for answers and sometimes a simple action can have good results

The patient information leaflet included with my Actavis thyroxine tabs says to "swallow with plenty of water". I personally haven't heard of anyone being told to chew them.
Hi Richie, I used to swallow my thyroxine tablets but found they were always getting stuck in my throat, (I take Wockhardt , which is only available in 25mcg tablets and they are really tiny). I now chew them and then drink a glass of water. My blood tests are good, so I assume that this is ok.
