Swkenzie, two capsules recommended contain Iodine (as Potassium Iodide) 225 mcg. which exceeds the 150mcg RDA.
Not something I'd take. These so-called 'support' formulas are not really for people whose gland is already sick, for whatever reason.
The vitamins in them are all good but will probably not have much effect on your actual thyroid gland. And, as Clutter said, there's far to much iodine, which could make things worse rather than better.
There's also ashwagandha, which is a stimulant - well, call it an adaptogen, adds up to the same thing. Stimulating a sick gland is not a very good idea, it could hasten it's demise. And not much use if you have Hashi's.
As far as i'm concerned, these 'support' formulas are just money-spinners designed to take advantage of people concerned about the health of their thyroid - or people who already have a thyroid problem, looking for a miracle cure - without giving much in the way of results. It would be far better to get your vitamins and minerals tested and supplement as necessary. Because if you have something like a B12 deficiency, the 200 daily you'll get from these pills, isn't going to do a thing for you. Sorry.
Hi Swkenzie.....I have hypothyroidism and my Dr recently put me on this exact supplement. I took it for a few weeks and things went from bad to worse. It was scary how ill it made me. Also, the ingredients are in a hypromellose capsule. Hypromellose is a semi-synthetic cellulose that is known to bind thyroid hormones.
I know we all react differently to things, but I would proceed with extreme caution if you decide to try this.
I take this and love it. I have found Thorne to be consistently high quality supplements. But I'd have to know more about your situation before I could recommend it to you personally.
I can think of no reason for the company choosing the name THYROCSIN for this product other than to confuse. That is something we thyroid people really don't need.
