Hi folks,

Karen, If your TSH is still high you may experience rapid heartbeat and swelling. You should have a thyroid blood test 6-8 weeks after your dose was increased to 200mcg to check levels. Leave 24 hours between your last dose and blood draw to avoid skewing results.
I don't think it's possible to become hyperthyroid after being hypothyroid, the thyroid gland wouldn't be able to produce that much hormone. Hyperthyroid is TSH<0.03 with over range FT4 and FT3.
Thank you for the reply, I had bloods done a few weeks ago but have not been given the numbers as yet. However I did have a phone call from a doctor explaining that my doctor thought my dose was too high , he asked if I felt ok and as I did said to just carry on and have more bloods in 6 weeks .... Will see what happens then I suppose have never had this problem before .
Karen, as GP has reviewed your results you should be able to get a printout from your receptionist or ask for the results over the telephone. Make sure you ask for the lab ref range (the figures in brackets after results) for each result.
Hi thanks again for response I usually do get a print out but not for most recent. Have just rang to get them and make another appt here goes 0.17mul (0.34-5.0) . Now I am confused what does that mean one dr was right that my dose was too high? This was 2 / 3weeks ago and been taking 200mg a day since ....
Karen, your TSH is low (below range) which is entirely to be expected on 200mcg, and doesn't mean of itself that you are overmedicated. If you were overmedicated FT4 &/or FT3 would be overrange. Not helpful that your GP practice relies on TSH only.
You can order private FT4 and FT3 from Blue Horizon and Genova via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
If we take too much levothyroxine or other thyroid hormones for our own needs we will get sensations of being overstimulated (hyper but not hyperthyroidism). I would get new blood test as Clutter suggests.
hi- sorry, i have no answers for you but wanted to let you know that i've had the same troubling symptom for a few years now (still am not optimized on thyroid medicine) and the same question as you. is this a hypo symptom, a symptom of too much t3, an adrenal issue . . . ? will be interested to hear what others have to say.
