Best / accurate intolerance test for dairy?

Hi

Has anyone used an accurate test for dairy allergy/intolerance? I used York for allergies once and everything I was allergic to was in my meal the night before so very dubious of that. Cyrex do one but we are talking megabucks. Thankyou in advance. Hope the sun is shining where you are too.

Often a food intolerance doesn't affect you immediately after eating the offending food but a couple of days later. I went lactofree to get rid of my TPO antibodies and noticed less bloating. After 3 months using rice and almond milk and avoiding all cheeses and yoghurts and butter, I went on to Lacto free (Arla) milk, cheese, cream and butter. Along with gluten free diet I am now TPO free and have far fewer "gut" issues.

Elimination diet is really only way, tests are expensive and not always reliable. Gluten/coeliac test is not reliable. Most foods you can tell after a couple of weeks without them if they are a problem, try one at a time!

Hi thanks for reply. I've been gluten free for nearly 12 months and have been dairy free with the odd slip for at least 2. I absolutely love cream and yoghurt and the odd decaff latte but have been pretty consistant. However Ive tried kefir on and off this year and I always end up with a headache. Im getting my TPOs done again soon so will cut out the kefir again before testing. Great news about your tpos.. you must be thrilled.

Websites, like the Thyroid Secret, say that the best way to test for food intolerances, rather than allergies, is to do an elimination diet and then to reintroduce the suspected foods very slowly noting all side-effects. This is supposedly more accurate than lab testing.
