Under active thyroid

Hi I have just joined hear as I need some answers have under active thyroid 2 months ago started meds now on 75 mg of levothyroxin and still putting weight on been reading a lot about T3 armour witch I can buy can I take both meds to see if this would help weight problem

Hi and Welcome

Two months is just a small amount of time for you to feel the benefits of your treatment. Hypothyroidism is often present long before the blood tests catch up with the symptoms.... Healing and finding wellness is NOT a quick fix. Of course we are all so very individual. Weight gain can be connected to the Adrenals - too much cortisol can affect the insulin/glucose levels which if not used up will be stored as fat around the middle. There is a book with the title - Fat Around the Middle

If you post your most recent blood test results with ranges - someone will advise. You may need an increase - or you may not be converting the T4 medication into the ACTIVE hormone T3.

Did you have your thyroid Anti-bodies tested ? Anti-TPO - Anti-Tg.

Also how are your levels of B12 - Iron - Ferritin - Folate - VitD ? They need to be OPTIMAL. Never accept normal from a GP when the result is low in range. Where results are in the range is so VERY important...

OK it's a lot to take in - so just baby steps

Thank you for reply all I no is I am now on 75 mg and doctor says need at least 200 mg as my results were very low so will ask next time and post results getin bloods took apx every 2 months

OK - will look out for your posts. Do not forget the other tests that need doing....
