he put my levo up to 75mg as he said 50mg was to low as my antibodies were to high he examined thyroid area (first time ive ever had that done). he also suggested my 3 daughters get tested.

He sounds good and knowledgeable. I hope you fell better soon.

Joyce, that's fine if your GP agrees to do the blood tests your private endo requires when he requires them.

i think they should be ok with that clutter he is writing to my gp to explain what is happening. at least this time i felt someone listened to me rather than trying to twist this as what happened last year.

Yes I was told this too. In the past the medical profession encouraged patients to be either private or national health. Now adays I think the more sympathetic consultants know that only complete desperation has forced us to seek private medical advice that many can ill afford so make concessions for self funding patients.

My endo (who practices in a different county) was happy for me to get tests done at GP's & then email him results as he was unable to access my medical records. Really amazing and so nice to have the control and trust passed over to the patient for a change.

quite right flower this same endo also works at the same NHS hospital as i do ive even nursed some of his patients some who are teenagers yet i felt the only way i could get the same service was by paying as the gps are reluctant to refer me.

Suggest to your GP that he actually puts on the form that tests are requested by Consultant Endocrinologist. Lab managers often have their own ideas!

How is the GP going to know exactly what tests to do - maybe not just routine every day ones that GP's do??

hi he will be writing to my gp to state what tests he would like doing and as i stated earlier he also work some days at the same NHS hospital as i do so he also said any problems i could ask for him there.
