Does anyone know if Nutri- meds Porcine Thyroid Health contain any active hormones?
Nutri-meds: Does anyone know if Nutri- meds... - Thyroid UK
Nutri-meds
I used it before I got T3 and NDT and it made a definite, immediate difference - increase in temperature etc, so I think it must have T3 at least. It doesn't say that it has no hormones. NDT is cheaper.
Thanks for reply. I thought I was retrying thyro-gold (which I used before without much success) and hadn't noticed I was taking nutri-med instead. (don't ask) silly me but feel much better on it so will continue for a bit. Temp. up a little but it wasn't too low before - definitely FEELING warmer and sleeping better something new to me
Amazing how mistakes work....maybe my guardian angel on duty AT LAST!
My understanding is that it contains the whole gland including the hormones but they can't state how much of the hormones are in it, which enables it to be classed as a food supplement and can be bought direct then without the need for a doctor's prescription. Meanwhile Nutri's Thyroid has had the hormones removed. So don't make a mistake and buy that one next time by accident!
Thanks for reply. I have been taking nutri-med for a few weeks in mistake for thyro- gold - don't ask how! Good mistake as I feel good, even sleeping better, nothing short of miracle for a life long insomniac like I. So shall continue and be careful not to confuse with Nutri's Thyroid - thanks for warning!
I currently take 100 levothyroxine daily but symptoms still much the same for years although blood results look good on paper - insomnia is dreadful and just back from annual holiday which was ruined by this. In the past I have tried nutri-thyroid alongside the levo but it made no difference. I was going to try nutri-med without my gp's approval but am unsure how to take it - would I just stop the levothyroxine and start by taking one nutri-med daily - how long would you have to be on the nutri-med before getting a blood test to determine how well it was working? Any advice appreciated - I wasn't aware that I could purchase this in the UK but I don't think I could afford it long term.
Good luck, I had blood test done after 6 weeks but results disappointing so back on Levo. A low dose of timed release melatonin helps sleep but some say not too take when on Levo, also any drowsy type anti histamines help, very much trial and error
AND EXPENSE!!!!
Thanks for your reply - do you mean blood test results were disappointing after taking nutri med? GP said my tests on 100 thyroxine are 'perfect' so I am quite worried about not taking it in case I make things worse.
Yes, blood tests disappointing after taking nutri med. Don't really know why I bothered. Like you results good on levo., only 25 mcg in my case Probably just wanted to "be in Charge" rather than doc. Costly lesson learned But we're all different and you might be fine on nutri
My advice would be to stay with levo as it suits and spend your cash on a treat for your self - ENJOY!
