Looks like someone's making a film to highlight the plight of thyroid patients. It might raise the profile a bit and get things changed!

I'm so glad she's made the film. The medical establishment needs to watch it. It might change some minds but I'm not holding my breath.

I am so confused as to why so many doctors and endocrinologists refuse to listen to the thousands of patients who are all telling the same thing - why do they refuse to acknowledge what their patients are telling them?

I know what you mean, I've been trying to get my head round this for a while. It's very frustrating.

I wonder this too! I actually asked my endo and he said there was lots of talk in the profession but no-one could agree therefore it's down to luck as to whether you get listened to and treated or not.

From 'off the record' conversations with my endo and GP, they are protecting their careers from any sanction by the BTA 'police'.

They do not want to risk drawing attention to themselves by going against the guidelines.

Which I guess I can understand. If you've worked so hard for a career you wouldn't want to lose it......but at what cost?

I also understood and a good compromise was reached with both endo and GP.

My endo wrote a letter discharging me in such a way that she did not specifically say that my T3 should be stopped and that I understood the 'risks'.

This was good enough in for my GP to leave me on my T4/T3 combo.

Let's hope so. It would be wonderful if people could actually get treated. I'm currently bed ridden after 4 months on Levo, doctors have no answers. Waiting for my appointment on the 25th with Dr P.

I hope things change for you on the 25th. I strongly believe that if they could spend some time in our shoes things would change dramatically. Good luck for the 25th.

Well, now, how many of you have actually donated to make sure this happens? Do you realise that if every person on this forum donated just $1, the film would be home and dry? I've made my donation, how about you?
