I had a question , hypothyroid can make girls hard to have a pregnancy or maybe they can't at all , is this in men to ? Do they have a hard time ?
Question : I had a question , hypothyroid can... - Thyroid UK
Question
Juangonzalez, Hypothyroidism can cause low sperm count in men and difficulty in conceiving a pregnancy in women. Optimal thyroid medication should resolve infertility problems caused by hypothyroidism.
And how do I know if I don't have any other disease ?
You get blood tests.
Have you been diagnosed as hypo? If not, the tests you need are :
Thyroid Antibodies
TSH
Free t4
Free T3
B12
iron
ferritin
folate
vit d3
cholesterol
If you are having trouble with your sperm count you could also ask for testosterone to be tested, too. If all these tests come back optimal - not just 'in range' - then you can start thinking about testing for 'other things'. Did you have anything specific in mind?
Yes it can took me 3 years to conceive my first baby after going to doctors and having to have help of fertility treatment. Only to miscarriage the baby at 12 weeks and was blamed on my blood group and need anti d injection. 8 weeks later conceive twins but both were born at 36 weeks, underweight, Jundice and anemia. Then had a girl at 30 weeks after trying for 18mths, due to a placenta haemorrhage. Then breech baby at 38 weeks but that child has autism due to me being thyroid untreated at the time, had another baby born 36 weeks born with milk intolerance, going to paediatric to sort out both boy with health problems.
hope this helps
