I've been looking at my blood results in more depth and at the top it says ....if patient is on thyroxine they are essentially biochemically euthyroid on current dose. what does that mean ??

Joeltite, euthyroid means normal thyroid levels within the reference range ie neither over nor under active. What are your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results)?

Free thyroxine is 12.4

Tsh is 2.57

Serum folate is 3.6

Even without the ranges included, they all look like poor results. I would not be surprised if you have symptoms.

The lab think you are already on Thyroxine as in range.

However - I have posted your previous results below and the B12 for one is alarmingly low - you need to march back to your doctor and sort it quick - leaving it may cause nerve damage - I don't wish to alarm you but you need to act - soon.

Firstly you need more tests to confirm if B12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia - test before supplementing, you will likely need injections as it is not usually absorbed normally in the gut - this is the problem - folk on a vegan diet tend to experience B12 deficiency/PA. Pins & needles yet?

See the HU forum pernicious anaemia for more information or google Dr Chandy - but first see your GP.

B12=145 ng/l. 180-910

Folate=3.6 ug/l

Free thyroxine 12.4 pmol/l 9-24

Tsh=2.57 mu/l 0.2-4.5

Vit d 36

Ferritin =48 ug/l 15=200

Had pins and needles for year's,they opperated on one hand for carpel tunnel last Sept but surprisingly its still the same,my feet also,I'm cold all the time,stupidly tiered,feel sick after food,constant headache,ibs,no sex drive what so ever,angry,anxious,very nervous ect my dad has underactive thyroid,I've been suffering for years,I'm just glad they have found something at least its a start :-) no I'm not a veggie I eat meat daily.

I also eat meat but am investigating low B12 due to nerve/sensory symptoms - we can eat it but have problems absorbing nutrients from it - coeliac, low stomach acid, H Pylori, PPIs all cause mal-absorption. I read a quarter of those with thyroid probs also had B12 deficiency - and supplementing is not enough in most cases - B12 injections are needed.

you need to sort those underlying low vitamin/minerals, it will take some time.

(I avoided bilateral carpal & cubital tunnel surgery by sorting low Vitamin D).

Definitely go back to your doc armed with family history - take someone assertive with you.

Cold, tired, anxiety/depression are obvious Thyroid symptoms to us - personally I think a lot of anger stems from being hungry (mal-nourished) and wanting to kill something to eat!!! We can fluctuate between hypo/hyper symptoms too due to it being an autoimmune attack on the thyroid gland which eventually gives in....

Thank you,yes if I had realised that carpel was a symptom at the time I would have stopped the opp,I did this time before the 2nd opp,got bloods done now to start the next episode in trying to feel remotely ok would be nice :-( I'm going to call dads doctor tomorrow to see if he can help as he has been fantastic with dad.

Carpal Tunnel can be a Hypothyroid symptom..the condition will go away on proper Thyroid meds. I had this happen to me.

Exactly I'm not on any thyroxine so that's means its ok doesnt it,he has put me on a low does if tablets,for b12,vit d and folic acid and I had more bloods done today,intrinsic factor being one of them.
