Hi there, I'm coming up to two weeks post thyroidectomy and I have just received two letters through the door...one of them is a scheduled appointment to see the endocrinologist after operation im supposing to discuss the results of the operation, to look at blood test results and see where we go from here re further treatments and medication amounts etc. the second letter is from my doctors surgery saying that I need to make an appointment regarding an outpatients report from the hospital... It has thrown me and obviously I can't contact them now till Monday. Why would the Dr want to see me. I've come over anxious and nervous now wondering why they want to see me. Why could this be, they didn't want to see me last time after my operation before I had the diagnosis so why now. Is it something bad, have they found more or something else...? Can anyone else with any experience here help...?
Cheers xxx

When we are unwell and are undergoing investigations, when we get letters you have received and have no way on contacting anyone, our minds will run riot trying to second-guess the whys and wherefores.
There may be a very simple explanation. A member who has had a similar experience to you will also respond.
Maybe the doctor is just doing a follow-up of the letter he has received from the Consultant. I think if it was a serious matter the doctor would have phoned you rather than sending a letter.
Loopy, I think your GP will be following up on receiving the outpatients report. It would be unusual for anyone other than the consultant to give you news, good or bad, and I agree with Shaws, your GP would have telephoned you if it had been a matter of urgency.
