Having tested negative for thyroid antibodies does this rule out having had thyroiditis or Hashimoto's?

Yes, probably.

How many times have you tested negative? You can't rule out Hashi's on one negative result because anti-body levels vary. It would be safer to have serveral tests at various intervals - if such a thing is possible! But I know that most doctors only want to test it once whether it's negative or positive. If they test it at all, that is!
