Hi
Does anyone know a lab in the UK that will test cytokines to establish what type of Hashimoto's I have?
True Health Labs in the US do one, but you have to get the blood there in 24 hours.

Sorry not to be able to help with this but having Hashimoto's myself I can give you a practical hint. Drink some green tea a note how you feel as it usually stimulates Th2 I believe. If you feel worse you might be th2 dominant and your body dose not really want any more stimulation of the immune system with the increase production of th2.
I believe that the current thinking is more about balancing the two sides anyway and stimulating the increase in TReg cells - acupuncture does the job quite well. Some people are clearly Th1 or Th2 dominant but apparently you might not have clear dominance anyway.
I learnt a lot about this issue from Izabella Wentz's book so maybe it would be useful to have a look there.
Good luck with finding your answers
samaja - thank you for bringing this to my attention, the Th1/2 dominance is something I have been wondering about since I started looking into this big health conundrum. I have disliked the effect green tea has on me for years but persevered because it is considered so healthy.
Izabella Wentz is on my reading list, thanks for the reminder.
Well, like so many things, green tea isn't that healthy for hypos. It's a goitrogen and has a high level of fluoride.
I'm sorry l can't halp with your quest, but l shall follow any answers you get with interest.
Hugs, Grey
...and another piece for the puzzle!
Thank you for mentioning this, Grey.
Have a good day!
Thanks for this. Have you got a source for this? We teachers are "Show me" people!
Sorry, but was your question addressed to me, archipoeta? Difficult to tell sometimes. lol
A source for green tea being a goitrogen? Just Google goitrogens, it's on some of the lists, if not all. For gree tea containing fluoride? Just Google green tea-thyroid. I don't keep links for everything I read, it would become confusing. But it's something I've read many times and just remember.
But if your question was directed at someone else, just ignore the above! lol
Hugs, Grey
Interesting to learn there are different types of hashimotos, I've never heard of this. can you give me some link so I can read up on this, Thanks
