Pauwi, your body is responding gratefully to the increase in dose but it isn't enough and your symtoms resume. TSH of 3.8 is too high when on replacement hormone and suggests you were under medicated. Ask for another thyroid test 8 weeks after your dose was increased as you may need a further increase. TSH of people on medication is usually comfortable just above or below 1.0.

Scroll down to Guidelines and Treatment Options to read Dr. A. Toft's comments in Pulse Magazine thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... If you want a copy of the article to show your GP email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk

It's good practice to obtain a printout of your results as you can monitor your progress and can post the results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) on the forum if you want advice.

Thanks for the advice the lowest my tush has ever been was 1.9 but at that level I still had symptoms, then it went up to I think around 7 then dropped to the 3.8 after the dose was increased to 75mg I then left it and shortly after felt better only to feel rubbish again about 3 weeks later.the symptoms begun again so I phoned the doctor who said based on symptoms to up dose to 100mg I felt really good for a further 3 weeks then as I say now feel like the symptoms have returned so I gather I'm aiming for a tosh below 1 to feel good, also is a constant feeling of being pulled to 1 side a thyroid symptom as when dose was increased this all but went away

Pauwi, it may take several months after you are optimally dosed for your symptoms to resolve.

I don't understand what you mean about "being pulled to one side". Do you mean your balance was off? That can be a thyroid issue. My balance was dreadful, as was my spatial awareness.

Yeah my balance was off and I walk into stuff a lot thanks for all the help

That can also be a B12 deficiency symptom. Have you had your B12 tested?

Yes that's one thing the doctor recently tested and I was told the b12 was good just wish I didn't keep getting this motion sickness feeling it knocks me off my feet

Please! Do not ever take your doctor's word for everything being 'good' or 'fine' or 'ok'. They have no idea what is good! My B12 was at the bottom of the range and my doctor said it was 'perfect'. Meanwhile, I could hardly walk - needed a cane and a wheelchair - I would forget what I was saying in mid-sentence, my skin was itching and burning, terrible Dizzy spells, I nearly lost the use of my right arm! And all my hair fell out. My B12 was far from being 'perfect'.

Always, always get copies of your test results so that you know exactly what is going on!

Now I'm taking massive does of B12 and feeling much better. Hair regrowing, less itchy, got some more use back in my arm. I could have ended up as a zombie if I had taken my doctor's word for what was good and what was not!

Get the results, eh? :) xxx

Yeah I seem to remember I don't know where that my b12 was borderline but when I asked the doctor he said it was very good and come to think of it before all this started I used to take very high doses of vitamin b12 so wonder if I should experiment

One thing that always comes back borderline is my red blood cells being lighter than they should be,I'm not quite sure what that means

Yes, well, very good doesn't really mean anything, does it. You really should get print-outs of all of your test results.

The pale red blood cells could be due to low iron. But I don't know much about blood. I can't see if you've mentioned your iron anywhere. Iron is very important for conversion, so if you haven't had it tested, better ask for it. :)
