I have a dilemma. Lost my T3 tablets.

Hi everyone. I hope you can help. I take T3 only (recommended by Dr P). However, I have been on holiday and my tablets have gone missing. I am back home with only 8 25mcg tablets and as I have to order myT3 it will never come in time.

The reason I take T3 only is because T4 doesn't convert, I end up with swollen feet and legs and feel generally yuck.

What to do? Is it safe to just swap over to T4 for the time being and then swap back when my new T3s arrive. Should I cold turkey go over to T4? Wouldnt that be dangerous/damaging to my health?

Is it safe to just swap back again when the new tablets arrive?

Or should I slowly titrate to T4 by taking that with a small amount of T3 too? It might be interesting to see what the result is after all this time.

I cant ask my GP for some T3 because he doesn't approve.

Really worried about my options at this stage.

Susan

I think I would do the mix of both and hope for the best! You may find you are now converting better and the small amount of T3 will be enough to stop you becoming hypo until fresh supplies arrive.

Mine only take about a week to arrive. How long does yours take?

As much as you may want to help out, please remember that offering to send people meds is in contravention of our posting Guidelines. Thank you

Sorry you are in such a muddle Susan, I think if it was me I would probably take the T4 as something is better than nothing.

Susan, I'd start taking T4 straight away as it takes 7/10 days to get into your system and halve the T3 dose to eke it out. It takes 48/72 hours for the T3 to get into your system so you won't be on empty and your new T3 may arrive in the meantime.

Just wondering if there's an option to order your T3 with express postage which you might not normally consider.
