Had an account for ages but this is my first time posting. Since my son was born nearly 15 months ago I have been suffering with what I believe are hypothyroidism symptoms possibly caused by hashimotos disease. I have a list as long as my arm and switch between hypo and hyper symptoms and have a family history of thyroid problems and disease. I have had my doctor check my Tsh twice and both times have said in normal range I had a private antibodies test which revealed antibodies the levels were 10.8 tpo and 7.7 tgab I sometimes feel like I have a little balloon in my neck slowly swelling & like something is stuck there when swallowing etc. I'm at a loss of what to do as my doctor is not willing to help as only going by Tsh. They have refused other tests and full thyroid panel and my doctor also doesn't care about my antibodies test either. I feel awful 24/7 and don't know what to do.. What do you think..? x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x

Welcome to the forum, JadeElise.
Can you post your TSH results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) as the 'normal' range is very broad.
I think your TPOab and TgAb are too low to be positive for autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's). Positive antibodies show as above the ref range.
Has your GP examined your throat to see whether your thyroid is swollen?
Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as low/deficientlevels can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
Thankyou for your reply I need to go to the doctors to get a print out of all my results but I do know that my last Tsh Result came back as 1.45. I have a thyroid examination next week to. I'm so baffled as to what it could be as all other tests etc are normal :/ I'm so confused as I have so many symptoms yet everything seems fine on paper apparently. I have some pictures of my throat etc I can post to see if it does look swollen x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x
JadeElise, If your throid is swollen your GP should send you for an ultrasound to measure the size and condition of your thyroid and check whether there is a goiter (swelling) or nodules on the gland.
TSH 1.45 is in the low normal range and you are unlikely to get a diagnosis of hypothyroidism until it is >5.0 or whatever the top of the range is. Try to make sure future thyroid tests are done early in the morning when TSH is highest.
Hi JadeElise, i wanted to comment because I also developed thyroid problems after the birth of my first child. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos about 15 months after his birth but i started feeling horrible 2 months after birth. So its a long process. I visited doctors so many times they offered me antidepressants, painkillers, councelling, peppermint tablets for digestiom etc. my main symptoms are tiredness,depression,rage/mood swings, acne and very sore throat. My hormone levels were all over the place in the beginning but by the time of diagnosis only tpo was high so i was given no treatment! Im trying to treat myself but no luck so far, feel crap. You definitely need to have all the thyroid hormones tested and vitamins and gp should do that,at least what they already havent checked, you have to insist.i have to say if you dont stand up for yourself they wont help you,so you have to be strong and take someone with you. Definitely check ferritin cause mine is low(31) even though my gp doesnt think so. Good luck xx
