Hi, my. Mum is also hypothyroid but she came back from her gps yesterday with a diagnosis of parathyroid ism, her serum parathyroid hormone was 23.6 with a range of 1.6-6.9.

Des anyone know much about this, has it anything to do with her hypothyroidism? will it effect her hypothyroidism? Or is it something completeky unrelated?

Hi. I suggest that you have a look at hyperparathyroid.org.uk where you will find a friendly and very helpful forum.

I hope this link will be helpful. A member who may be knowledgeable will respond to your question too. It appears there is hypo-parathyridism and hyper-parathyroidism. The link already given by yoursurname should be good.
