I have been hopping back and forth between all the various therapies for the past two years and have yet to find any one of them that lives up to its early promise. Each time I think I have cracked it and a week or so later, it all goes wrong again. I am currently doing a mix of all three, i.e. Levo, NDT and T3 and early results are good but I know it will not last. My success with NDT in the spring was ruined by having a CT scan with iodine contrast. I immediately stopped processing the NDT and when I googled it, found others had suffered in the same way. I am hoping to return eventually to NDT, as having had TT, I desperately want to be on something that gives me everything I have lost.
I assume from your question that you are thinking of going back to NDT from T3 only. Have you tried working the two together? I am very fond of T3 and cannot do without my tiny 5mcg bedtime dose. I think I shall keep to it, even if I am mostly on NDT.
Hi no I'm doing quite well on 4 grains of armour and 20mgc T3 endo suggested t3 only but don't want to mess up but if it makes me feel normal again then maybe worth ago but will i ever feel normal i doubt it
What dose of NDT are you on? I have recently been put on T3 5 mcg, but have been told to reduce my NDT from 75 down to 15mg. I feel absolutely terrible after just 4 days. My BP ( normally low ) has shot up and I feel cold and tingly all over, even in my chest (? adrenaline ) .
Can't get help from my doctor as no-one check the phone for messages or rings back to a query, which I think is awful considering how much the fee costs.
Shall I cut out the NDT all together, or the T3, or both? Literally cannot function in this state.
Thank you if you can shed some light on these horrible symptoms.
Well that was long ago and as I said, my dose and meds change all the time. I am currently having huge problems with T3, which may be responsible for my just being diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. Not good news!
Your total dose is very low. No wonder you feel ill and cold but on the other hand it could be a reaction to the T3, in the light of my new experience with it. I suppose it depends how you were before but if 75 NDT worked reasonably well, I might be inclined to go back to it. In any event, your doctor appears to have miscalculated the amount to drop the NDT, as T3 of 5mcg is worth only about 20 of T4 and you have dropped your NDT by much more than that. Sorry I cannot be of more help and I hope you get sorted out soon.
Hi
Have you read Paul Robinson's wonderful book " Recovering With T3: My Journey from Hypothyroidism to Good Health Using the T3 Thyroid Hormone
amazon.co.uk/Recovering-Wit...
I was on T4 for 5 years - complete waste of time. Moved over to NDT after reading Janie Bowthorpe's incredible web site which made me FEEL much better ( but still a feeling that I was not back to where I should be):
Was offered T3 in 2013 and basically got my life back........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is that significant
Also check out Dr Michael Johnston's You tube presentation on ALL the other factors that he and his family encountered (He, His Wife and his 2 Daughters suffered from Hashimotos !!)....they are now in remission !!!
