Hi Soteti, email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of recommended endos.
Try Charing Cross Hospital. I am currently under a consultant there -in neuroendocrinolgy, because i found the general endos were only interested in ~Diabetes -related end.
Good luck
Thank you Beaumoa, sounds the best bet and its a teaching hospital.
Thanks Londinium, the big Harley Street con - its always been that way. People don't realise its rent a room. I'm not sure how to email you but will try, I'd like to know who to avoid.
The reason I went to a neuroendocrinologist was due to severe menopausal symptoms lasting now 11 years and sub-clinical hypothyroidism. Following much personal research, I realised that the hypothalamus and pituitary gland and how they affect both the thyroid and menopausal state must be in some way closely connected. The normal endo was really only interested and specialised in eliminating Diabetes and knowing the base problem was at brain level, decided to go down this route in preference.
Hi beaumona I sound like i am in a similar situation to you and have been researching like mad to try to find the right person to see and the GP is not interested at all despit my MRI showing a pituitary adenoma. Your advice about a neuroendo is really helpful. Thank you and if anyone knows a good one in the Midlands please can they pm me with the contact details as I'm still trying to locate someone who can listen and help!
Just received your reply! I am now 16 years into postmenopausal symptoms. Although i have better periods intermittently than 5 years ago, I still suffer hot flashes which can last in between 30 -60 mins. The doctors do not really have much more knowledge now than they did then. They need to do much more research into how the menopause changes the functional ability of the hypothalamus which is receiving and then sending back out, very confused messages.
Hope things are much better with you now.
