The patient's doctor "is not a fan of pills" but I bet he pushes antidepressants and statins to help with her 'non-thyroidal' hypothyroid symptoms. She shouldn't talk to her GP, she should change GP.

'TREAT THE PATIENT, NOT THE LAB RESULT' should become a mantra written large and clear on every GP and endo's wall! ;-)

Good article from Dr Scurr........someone speaking our language.

We need to get more articles in papers taking this good start further.

Unusual for a good article from Scurr, as you see on the previous pages in the paper he supports statins. Somebody wrote on the page with various ailments which were shouting thyroid. Dr. Scurr totally ignored the issue and was prescribing beta blockers and various other drugs. It is not the first time he has disregarded thyroid problems. I was so angry I wrote an e-mail to him and suggested he read Dr. Barry Durrant Peatfield's book and learn something. So maybe he has.....

We certainly need more doctors like Dr Scurr and I believe he is one of the Honorary Doctors.

NEVER let your doctor titrate your dose by blood tests alone. NEVER let him or her reduce your dose, they cannot without your permission and that includes you not saying anything!! NEVER accept what a doctor says as true unless they are prepared to give you CHECKABLE REFERENCES

Somebody told me he is the advisor on Holby City, not sure if it is true. Could be good in the light of today, but certainly not with his attitude towards thyroid problems in the past.

Interesting in the light of professor whatishisname having a pituitary macro adenoma last week... They called for cortisol to be tested but did not mention thyroid.

I sent an Email to him. I thought it warranted it as I thought it was a good article and we need to support all things positive. It's a huge learning curve for all of us.I expressed a lot of my own thoughts before ending with ......Yes, we sufferers will always support "Treat the Patient and their Symptoms" ........and not the reliance on TSH lab test computer results.......more articles needed please to expose this Thyroid Scandal.
