Basal Body temperature

My GP said this was not not thought to be reliable when I mentioned it to her a few months ago. I've started taking to again because according to this site and others it is a good indication. I still have an old mercury thermometer as I bought a couple of digital thermometers last time and they didn't correspond to each other so I don't think they're that wonderful

Last time I read it, the Wiki article on body temperature explained quite a lot about how and why different thermometers and technologies and locations measured give different results. Doesn't mean any are "wrong".

I think Dr Broda Barnes was a firm exponent of the BBT - Basal Body Temperature. He observed that his thyroid patients suffered with cold extremeties and more, caused by lowered metabolism. There still exists a Foundation College in his name in the States. He also wrote many books. Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield studied there too.....

Thanks Marz. It's just a question of whether GPs do. I found my GP found it a bit outdated...
