Has anyone who suffers from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis experienced any side effects that could be related to Cynomel.

Apologies, I had a senior moment.

I should have written Cynomel not Cytonel !

I was prescribed Cytomel previously and found it brilliant, also I could tolerate it.

Eventually this was it was stopped because it was too expensive!

I have serious ADR problems and refused liothyronine by Amdipharm Mercury due to reports that it had caused problems for other thyroid patients, plus the fact, availability had proven to be unreliable.

Side effects -- unable to state accurately, that is why I asked if others had experienced problems to which I could possibly relate.

Cynomel is certainly not as potent as Cytomel.

I thought Cynomel and Cytomel were the same thing. Just different names in different countries. I've taken both and haven't noticed any difference.

Sorry for delay in responding--I'm a bit under par at the moment.

CYNOMEL is available on line as an alternative to CYTOMEL.

You may be able to find out where by contacting Thyroid UK direct. Although I am not sure of their protocol.

CYTOMEL is now under the umbrella of Pfizer. Originally manufactured by Kings Pharmaceuticals.

It is very expensive in the UK tho' it is MUCH cheaper in USA & Canada.

Thank you, bomap. Please don't apologise! We all know what this disease does to us.

As I said, I have taken both (I'm not looking to buy it lol). I bought Cytomel on-line - can't remember from where. But now I'm being prescribed Cynomel by my doctor here in France. And they are both about the same price. So I really think the name is interchangable and, as I said, I haven't noticed any difference between the two.

When I said to an endo once that I was taking Cytomel, she very condescendingly said 'no, Cynomel, dear'. lol

Yes, it is very expensive in the UK! The price is exorbitant. Someone is making a hefty profit there and I can't understand why it is accepted!

Reading all the posts and questions here emphasizes how we are all different.

I have found that I need double the amount of Cynomel to Cytomel.

The price variation re prices in USA /Canada and the UK is somewhere in the region between 700%-800%.

This comes as no surprise! But it is scandalous! However, the solution is obvious: T3 should no longer be regarded as 'special', it should be standard practice. They only have themselves to blame!!!

Is it any Wonder that patients give up and start buying their own T3 on line? A la guerre comme à la guerre, ma chère! lol
