I have been taking zinc as my hair seemed to be falling out by the handful! This seems to have helped, even my hairdresser noticed how thick it is now. I am not a doctor so don't know about taking it with levo.

Sophia, zinc as Piplysmelie has recommended and evening primrose oil and Biotin are recommended for hair thinning/loss. Magnesium should be taken with zinc as they are co-dependant and need to be kept balanced.

Is there a particular reason Birdlover, why you are concerned about taking zinc? Recently my GP tested for low zinc levels with a view to supplementation , for my hair problems.

....yes it is Stored Iron. If you haven't had the other important vitamins and minerals tested - then you could ask for them too. Iron - Folate - Ferritin - B12 - VitD ...all need to high in their respective ranges...

I agree, low ferritin? Mine stopped falling out when I got my ferritin levels up.

hI sophia17 i started taking B12 and after a couple of weeks I really noticed the difference in my hair. It felt soft again after being lifeless and dry for so long. The fact that my hairdresser noticed and was amazed is testament to the improvement! Unfortunately it hasn't gone back to it's pre thyroid condition (which was thick and shiny), but it's 10 times better than it was. Good luck with yours.

I've noticed that vitabiotis do a multi-vitamin for hair and skin, look at their list to get some ideas. It's expensive though, although Boots do 3 for the price of 2
