Thank you for posting, but I find the article disconcerting for several reasons. Firstly it is perpetuating the damaging and frustrating myth that "hypothyroidism is fairly easy and cheap to correct by conventional means". Secondly, I'm guessing that when he writes "the only really reliable test for hypothyroidism is a blood test" I'm guessing he means TSH otherwise he would have referred to tests in the plural, so again reinforcing that what the TSH is, so is the patient. Unfortunately GPs too are of the opinion that "only a professional can diagnose hypothyroidism" which tends to exclude deferring to patients when they describe how ill they feel and what symptoms they are experiencing, irrespective of a "normal" TSH. And finally it concerns me that he seems to be implying that diet, exercise and supplementation can cure an under-active thyroid.

Oh dear, a nutrinob. Hypothyroidism has often diagnosed by non-professionals, it's just the professionals who won't acknowledge the clinical symptoms of hypothyroidism unless a blood test confirms it.

A nutrinob for sure!! ;-)

I see he only has 18 followers. That must tell you something.

His ideas about exercise would be laughable, if they weren't so sad. 'Exercise' is always a good idea? No, it isn't! But then, it dépends what you call 'exercise'. However, it will not, really not, get your thyroid working again if your thyroid is sick!

Pft!!!

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have posted anything. If everyone is going to pick flies then it needs deleting.

No Ellie, it is good to bring all these "nobs" to light so that we can see them - you only said it made interesting reading! xx

Thank you for that Sheenah, the other comments made me feel utterley useless!

also, I have no idea of what nutrinob means because I have never heard that term in my life.

in reply toEllie-Louise

Ellie, the comments weren't directed at you, but at the author of the document. It has served a valuable purpose by being aired and critiqued, to help people avoid being misled or given false hope by him.

The term Endonob was given to "unhelpful" Endos, and so Nutrinob arose from that. It helps to have a little bit of innocent fun at the expense of those who can cause us so much grief ;-(
