My doctor put me on 75 MCG, but slightly improved I need more.
Now my doctor said, although he sees I'm not well he can't up the dosage without the specialist say so.

How long have you been on 75mcg? It can take a while for Levo to build up in your body.
Please ask for your blood test results - for as far back as seems useful. Ask for the reference ranges.

Glenda, You may have noticed an initial improvement and feel you need an increase but it takes a few weeks for the initial dose of Levothyroxine to address your hypothyroid symptoms and your body must be allowed to adjust. 6 weeks after starting Levo and any subsequent dose increase or decrease you should have another blood test to check whether you are on an appropriate dose, need an increase or decrease. Dose adjustments are usually in 25mcg increments so it can take some months to achieve optimal medication but you will, hopefully, be noticing an improvement in symptoms along the way.
Are you having palpitations on levothyroxine? I guess so as he wanted to prescribe beta-blockers.
When I was taking levo as part of block and replace ( was also taking Carbimazole) I found that after six weeks I tended to need an increase.
I always seemed to get palpitations and sometimes I felt cold.
First time I went my GP was reluctant to alter my levo ( think she didn't want to interfere with the consultant's decisions etc) and as I have asthma and can't take beta blockers she gave me amitriptyline - next time it happened, probably because it had happened before and my consultant had raised my levo, plus I was quite determined, I said I knew I was 'within the range' but I obviously wasn't at my optimal point within the range because I wasn't feeling good and I knew it was possible for me to feel good if I was taking enough levo, so I was able to get her to give me a slight increase in levo (I alternated another 25mcg three days a week) and that helped.
My endo says he has people on as much as 500mg levo a day. So keep going doc they can give you more they are gps after all
I occasionally adjust my dose if Levo to alleviate my symptoms, then tell GP a few weeks after what I did and that I feel ok - what can she do other than Beleive that I know what my own body needs.
