My ankles have swollen up - this has not happened since I was last pregnant 35 years ago! Back to feeling flat, lethargic and achey - currently on 60mg Erfa - advice please - shall I increase it to 90mg? XX
Afternoon All - do you think I should increase ... - Thyroid UK
Afternoon All - do you think I should increase my dose?
That is quite a low dose. Most people end up on 3 or 4 times that dose. It may be wise to try an increase, perhaps 30mg to start with and another increase in a week or two. Listen to your body though.

Many Fanks - Good solid sense from you as usual XX
Don't think I can improve on the support given above. Just know that I suffered swollen ankles on every flight - long car journey - long dinner parties - all through my 30's and 40's and into my 50's. Found it so uncomfortable and hated it as it was the only slim bit It has not happened since being diagnosed in 2005 and improving treatment over the last couple of years.... Hooray ! Hope it happens for you too........
Yes just like me then - the only slim bit I had left - It has happened so quickly, over the last couple of weeks - not the heat - I feel so bloated and fat - am presiding over a Handfasting at the end of May - cant get into me frock - I think I am going to use cling film like they did in the Full Monty - use it like a corset and layer it round and round my boobs - God - imagine how uncomfortable that would be !XX Thanks for advice
Have just been told by my Hyper Physio here in Crete that I need to lose weight....so thanks for the tip about the cling film !! Am sure he will still be able to stick in his acupuncture needles without noticing the new addition to my new found shape....
I expect you know about kidneys and thyroid being on the same meridian in Eastern medicine - and usually ankle swelling can indicate sluggish metabolism in that area....so am sure the increase will work miracles.... M x
That used to happen to me and in the end would happen if I missed sleep or was over tired. I never connected it with thyroid.
Have no evidence to confirm whether there is a direct connection. It happened all through my 30's 40's and 50's until I was diagnosed at 59 ! It just happens on one ankle now and only very rarely....and nothing as bad as before. Just wish I could get rid of my spring rolls from my middle ( like those in a Chinese Restaurant ) - only mine are there summer and winter too !
My feet were horribly swollen after I over did things recently and took a couple of days to subside to normal. Endo didn't think the couple of glasses of Champagne I had could have been responsible but I have noticed swelling after alcohol, although I rarely drink now.
....I agree I think the capillaries dilate with alcohol and then the blood has difficulty making its way back up the venal system - the blood warms the area - and then the fluid is produced as a natural cooling response. Hope you enjoyed your glasses of champagne Am off to another island tomorrow for some R&R and will be checking out the grapes ! Lots of swimming and walking to create balance....
I had treatment on my swollen feet and ankles by a Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist who was fantastic. Probably had around 8 sessions and the swelling did come down to normal. It's not painful at all, the treatment is used a lot on cancer patients.
