Brain Fog really is a hypo symptom and is usually caused by being under medicated or because FT4 isn't converting well to FT3. Another possibiliy is menopause which is often early in hypo women and the hormone change can really screw with your thyroid and meds so please don't worry that you've got early Alzheimers or dementia.

Can you post your recent thyroid function blood results with the lab reference ranges so we can have a looksee at what's going on with you?

Hi there, i will call docs and get my results as tests done only last week but came back normal for my dosage - what ever that means!!!

Thanks for all support so far

Brain fog and memory problems are really the pits, and you have my sympathies. You really need to get a full set of thyroid tests - TSH, free T4, free T3 and antibody tests. Also, nutritional deficiencies can really screw things up. If you haven't had them tested recently, then you need vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, ferritin and folate tested.

My own brain fog and memory problems improved immensely when I supplemented with high dose B vitamins and also with prescription-strength iron. T3 helped in my case too.

Whichever tests you get done, ask for the results and also the reference ranges and post them here for comment.

Brain fog is not something you have to live with. And you can improve your memory. Don't accept or assume that deterioration is inevitable, because it isn't.

Thanks for this. Locum doc refused my re-prescription as he said dosage too high and until bloods done - no more tabs. i had bloods done and all i get when i call the surgery - normal - so what was all the fuss about.....i wish doctors would actually listen to the patients.....I know how my body works best !! I will ask for my results. thanks

I'm in exactly the same boat as you same dose too. I don't think I'm converting so I got blood tests for ferritin (low) and vitamin d (on prescription now I was deficient)

So apparently we need to get folate etc tested too and b12 so I'm asking fir them next month!

The above link has a questionnaire which you can answer to detect your level of deficiency - it would be a start. Maybe print off and show your GP.

If you have not been supplementing with B12 then it may be a good idea to have the Active B12 Test - which is done privately. Information on the Thyroid UK website. It is more accurate than the serum test.

Was the link I gave you helpful regarding B12 deficiency ?

Hi thanks the questionnaire seems to think I'm b12 deficient . This and the vit d deficiency and low ferritin just convinced me more I'm not converting and I want more thyroid tests than just tsh . Many thanks
