It is not like that at my surgery........doctors doctoring not at my surgery.

Your greeted with a glare & pushed out the door as soon as possible.

I didn't think it was reality of today........the doctor's were laughing & conversing with the patients, they will be treating us next ! :-)

in reply to Jillymo

Well said! To be fair, they had their work cut out so perhaps by being 'normal' it reassured their patients.

Feel sorry for the doctor who got the guy with the black eye lol!

in reply to Jessiepup

Didn't he say the guy was a regular visitor at A & E?

That was some shiner he had ........but the doctor conversed & laughed with him.

Afraid that does not happen at my surgery......mine makes no eye contact, he keeps his eyes on the computer.

He might mumble a few words if your lucky but god help you if you try to mention more than one ailment........he puts his hand up & shows you the door. :-) Jillymo

Suspect they had to look hard to find these doctors. Wish I had one like them. Janet.

I'm with you on that one.......I think we were watching a fiction program. :-)

in reply to Jillymo

Wouldn't happen in the suburbs!!

Hence it being an Inner London surgery where you're more likely to get a 'challenging' mix of people. I would suggest that being pleasant is easier than to lecture about their lifestyles.

My Gp loves lecturing me, I think it's the high light of his day.

Wouldn't it be nice to turn the clock back to when Gp's had that lovely bedside manner...........they would pop by to see how you were progressing..........you new them & they got to know you........they became a family friend.

It's all changed & not for the better & they call it progress !

Did you know you can record your medical sessions without permission or knowledge from your doctor? I read that on a legal site - because it is a discussion concerning your own health, you can record without letting on. I'm only saying - wouldn't it be interesting to compile our own little recorded programme about how doctors treat us?!!!

No i cant say I did know you could record them, but saying that many consultants use recorders to record patients.

What fun we could have making a program about our doctors & turn the spot light on them........your wicked ! :-)

I agree but was it just a front for the cameras ? It has been a long time since I came across a Gp that was understanding.

Sorry to hear you lost your dad but what a lovely kind Gp he was with not many of them around these days.

I can remember our family doctor being like that when I were a youngster, he was lovely a Dr Johnman.

I remember him arriving at our house in a dinner suit to attend my mother, he must have been at a function but had left to attend my mother..........I cant even get a house call these days.

How I wish there were more like that, if I were you I would move. :-)

The program i were speaking of was not fiction, but I agree the Shipman documentary was very interesting. I felt very deeply for all the victims & family's involved in this dreadful case.

This vile monster should have been struck off the GMC have a lot to answer for.

It is the same with the child abuse cases how often do we hear it wont happen again ? But a few months down the line we hear another appalling case where the authorities have failed yet again.

In my post I was referring to the lack of care & understanding in general these days in our consulting room's with regard to our health. Jillymo
