Nutri Thyroid - What does it do?

Does anyone know what Nutri Thyroid actually does? It says it's Thyroid Gland Concentrate and Hormone Free. If it's hormone free what does it actually do?

It reduced my TSH from 4.2 to 2point something and raised my FT4 and FT3. Then I stopped taking it because I was trying to get a diagnosis and it was not helping me,

I was taking it for several months and was getting horrendous palpitations and heart flips. I stopped taking it and they stopped. It doesn't say on the packaging what it actually does.

Your question has been the subject of much discussion and, to some extent, disagreement since quite early days here. Lots of differing views and opinions.

My view is that it must contain some thyroid hormones as there is no technique I have found for selectively removing the thyroid hormones alone. The amounts might not be as high as in apparently equivalent doses of prescription desiccated thyroid. The amounts of hormones (if they exist) are unlikely to be as well controlled as in prescription desiccated thyroid.

Hi Rod. A nutritionist recommended I take it but I'm still unclear what it's actually for or what it's supposed to do. I'm with you on the fact that it must contain so e hormones even thou it says hormone free - it certainly tipped me over the edge. Thanks for your reply. I'm still trying to find an answer but it seems that I'm unlikely to get a definitive one. What do the manuf say?

I'd ask them if I wanted to know! We have had a few people ask one or other supplier. No satisfactory answer that I have ever seen!

A century ago we did not have the technology to identify all the constituents of such things with the sensitivity required so many things were accepted on the "because it works" basis. Analysis is now of astonishing capability so we should be able to find out which of the constituents have an effect. And, indeed, what the constituents are!

I usually drive around Europe in the summer but thought I needed a thyroid boost last year so took Nutri. I started pretty low as worried as to what it might do and eventually dropped my Levo a little. My travelling companion remarked later how much better I had been and how more energetic! I then thought back to my rest days in Venice. My usual room on the second floor-no lift-I could reach without out stopping to admire the view and although I plodded up slowly I wasn't gasping for breath and the temp was 40, hotter than ever had. So it certainly does something and I'm not convinced its hormone free either!

That's interesting. I'm not sure whether is best to take it and reduce the levo or just stick to the same levo dose. Cheaper to have just levo as I don't have to buy it. I may experiment and see which way makes me feel the most normal and energetic. Back on just levo right now after I linked the Nutri thyroid with the palps but my memory is starting to suffer, How much would you recommend reducing the levo by if I took one Nutri thyroid a day?

I think I just reduced by 25 when I was up to 3 a day but then tried another 25 but couldn't hack that. I then tried Nutri 2+2 a day but that didn't feel good either so weaned myself off it again and looked at minerals and Vits
