Why are my thyroid levels changing so quickly? I have had Hashimotos for 10 years and up until last year my levels were stable.

That is a characteristic of Hashimotos, depending on if your antibody levels have risen or fallen. It can be triggered by an infection, or some people find that if they eat too much of anything containing Gluten they get a flare-up.

Can you think of anything different which has happened which could have caused it? I discovered that my Graves' antibodies went up after I had a 'Flu Jab. I am sure someone on here who has Hashis might be able to tell you the kind of things which can cause a flare-up.

It can lead to a sudden episode of OVERactive thyroid followed by a crash, as the damaged gland releases thyroxine into the blood stream, and then calms down and produces less thyroxine than before. It's what makes Hashis so hard to live with, being so unpredictable.

Thanks Marie. I went through a stressful period last year as I completed a teaching degree. Had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago. So haven't really had a long period for it to settle. I just want to be normal again. I hate having these unpredictable episodes. Is there anything I can do or anything my endocrinologist can do to help me? x
