Is it possible to develop thyroiditis again onc... - Thyroid UK
Is it possible to develop thyroiditis again once you have had a sub total thyroidectomy? I suspect this is what is happening at the moment
Hello. Yes , I developed symptoms 16 years after having a partial thyroidectomy. I then had to have radio active iodine treatment, after which I have been on Thyroxine ever since. Lately I have been gaining weight, becoming anaemic etc and am now awaiting an appointment to see a consultant. Good luck to you. I hope it turns out well for you.
have little thyroid left just mainly just tissue and have been great the last two years thought i was over the worst. The last two months i have put two stone on and every hypothyroid symptom you can think of. My bloods came back normal but she just tested t3 and t4 i asked my doc to do the full thyroid profile which she is doing for me. I am thinking i have hashimotos disease again but not sure if you can get this with a small amount of thyroid i have left. I am so unwell that i have taken a weeks holiday from work
I have heard that the thyroid can grow back but I am dubious!! I would think it cannot happen to everyone!! Are you suffering symptoms of overactive thyroid? Or is it just that the doctor has told you your TSH is very suppressed? More information please.
