back again - people saying I have thyroid issues - I don’t know what to do?

Kath2022 profile image

people keep saying my mood etc could be thyroid related and weight gain.

here are my trackers of thyroid…

I’ll post the rest below this.

I don’t know what to do as I think my HRT is doing this. GPs won’t listen. I have no relationship with them at all. What are your thoughts?

no ferritin result ?

You need BOTH TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested

ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally just before 9am and only drink water between waking and test

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

That's interesting so no signs of autoimmune... though I seem to remember this can give a false negative if you are in between flairs as this is just a count of the damage done?

Dhea seems nicely in the middle but cortisol is high. I am supposing that is total cortisol? I think you need SHBG (sex hormone binding globulins) tested to determine free cortisol (a bit like meaningful Iron tests need transferrin saturation %).

That was free cortisol and my shbg was in the 60s xxx

Blissful in reply to Kath2022

What was the SHBG range ?

healthyhormones.us/shbg-test/

"The sex hormone binding globulin level gives us important information on the status of several hormones in the body.

A high level is typically caused by estrogen excess and excess cortisol.

A low level is typically caused by low thyroid. It also is an indicator that you may be having issues with insulin resistance.

The key to treating an abnormal SHBG level is to identify what is causing the abnormality and correct it."

Both of those are negative.

It is quite usual to have very low levels of these antibodies. Not in everyone, not at all times. But some, sometimes.

What would that mean??? Are mine suspiciously low? Xxx thank you 🙏

High is what matters.

If either or both are high, it pretty much diagnoses autoimmune thyroid disease.

If low, it pretty much excludes autoimmune thyroid disease, at least at present.
