Hi

I always thought we should aim for 70 - 80

This had been mentioned lots of times on the forum.

Mine last year was 88 so I thought I was O.K. now it is 65 so I thought I am a little under now. I have recently seen a nutritionist and as my range is 30 -336 she said I should be aiming for a level of 150.

I was a little confused so I posted on the forum querying this and a member said apparently there are two different levels used, one is 15 - 150 the other is similar to yours and mine (although they do vary a little) so the best level to be is halfway of your range, hence range 15 -150 should be level 70 and level like yours and mine should be roughly 150.

Could explain why I am always still exhausted.

Best wishes browny

Thank you Browny, you have answered my question perfectly. Confusing isn't it! I too remembered that 70 - 80 were the numbers to aim for. I wonder why they have two criterias?!! My doctor said it was fine, ("well he would, wouldn't he"). I have started taking Spatone every other day, in the hope that it will give me a boost, the first indication that something was wrong, was that my nails were splitting all the way down and were paper thin, apart from the usual fatigue. Have you started taking extra iron, and are you feeling better? I am always a bit wary with the iron situation, because having too much can be as bad as not having enough, so when do you know when to stop.

Thank you again Browny.

Hi Margo, I have recently started Spatone, one sachet daily, no improvement yet but only been taking it for a few days. I also have soft splitting nails so I am hoping they and the fatigue improve shortly. Hope you feel better soon.

Best wishes browny

Hi there, it appears that most fibro sufferers have low to lowish ferritin levels, I spent many years trying to get mine up and in the end had to have an iron infusion to allow me to have a hysterectomy. wishing you well

Thanks for your reply denvajade, was really hoping that the Spatone would help. Presuming your iron infusion was from your G.P./hospital? My G.P. thinks my level is ok and within range, so it is unlikely he would do anything for me.

(I had a hysterectomy too, seems common place for thyroid sufferers. Hope you are feeling better)

Thank you for your reply browny when I saw Dr. Peatfield he recommended Spatone every other day. Which is what I am doing. Lets hope we both see an improvement soon. Regards, Frankie
