NHS Cortisol Test

My NHS Trust carries out Cortisol Serum, but does not offer Ref Range.

Is anyone else's NHS doing the same?

Dr. has queried, but no joy with Path Lab.

I had mine done last year and it has a reference range of 0.00 - 700.00 nmol/l. Surely 0 can't be "normal"?

Precisely Babette, it surely can't be right. GP Notebook has the following

(8.00h - 10.00h) 130-690 nmol/L

(22.00h-24.00h) <260 or < 50% 0.900h value

Hi Guys'

Ref range relates average levels over % population.

But one Path Lab explained it reflects the gauge of diognostic equipment used by the lab.

So it's not a standard range for all.

I've used about 6 different labs over years & ref ranges have all differed. A result figure sits differently on each.

Therefore to interpret results - Lab should provide ref ranges.
