ITP and thyroid
I do not have ITP and have never heard of it before but seeing as it is an autoimmune illness that this would not be unusual - one autoimmune illness can follow another, which is quite common on this site.
Just had to look up ITP and for fellow readers this is the explanation I found.

thanks Moggie your good at this i see. i didnt think to post a link on ITP . Ta for that.
Always get copies of your thyroid gland blood tests for your own records and you can also post them here for members to comment. Also put the ranges as labs differ. If you GP hasn't tested Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these to be done too.
I'm glad Moggie posted a link to your auto-immune disease and it sounds quite painful.
Hiya Shaws & Moggie. my skin ha s been itching for 6mth . i thought it was a reaction to moisteriser. not sleeping properly. also my sister was diagnosed last yr.it mioght be nothing but when i mentioned the itching and sister he just said Throid. Hi Harry, when did you get diagnosed with ITP? I haven't got it but I've got one of its relatives, Schamberg's disease.
It began over 30 years and has now reached my knees. Grrrrrrr it's so unsightly so I don't wear dresses anymore.
morning sazzyb. i have had ITP for 6/7 yrs but diagnosed fro 5yrs. 30yrs omg cant imagine having it that long.
Hi Harry. Years ago my old GP at the time gave me my first thyroid test, I had hyper symptoms (think the TSH test was fairly new.) He thought it was pretibial myxoedema on my legs. Anyway test was 'normal' - haha - such an over-used word - so I didn't bother about them but in the last 15 years they started marching up my legs in a very determined way, lol. Went to see a locum as my GP was ill - she said it was Melanin 'because we get it when we're getting older' but that it was just in the wrong place on me. Honestly, I'd never heard anything so ridiculous! Laughable.
