Sadly I have got into a habit of sleeping for 3/4 hours, then waking for a couple of hours and than falling back for a short time before the alarm goes. Frankly it's taking its tole.

I suffer from aches and pains in the upper body and this does not help but doc not willing to increase my 50 levo so I need hints or tips please?

Thanks you x

I feel for you, because I have been struggling with sleep the same for the past 4 weeks. I feel tired , go to bed and then I can't sleep for ages. When I do eventually get to sleep I wake about an hour later, and the cycle starts all over again!! :(

Orangelady - Ive been doing some reading and cortisol levels could be a problem, and it suggests taking a small snack of protein before bed. I am trying some herbal tablets tonight 'quiet times' tonight. However this has only started since ive been on levo. I will let uou know what helps xx

Ive tried taking levo of an evening but i get very hot and restless doing that. Will our lives ever go back to how they were!

Thank you all

I also have sleep problems if dose is too low. Taking Levo at bedtime might help - or an extra quarter /half of a tablet every other day or so perhaps?

Re your aches/pains. This is a link and an excerpt. If you go to date October 20, 2004 to read the full answer:-

From your own experience, you obviously know that fatigue and widespread pain are among the chronic hypothyroid symptoms that can plague these patients. It has become fashionable for doctors to diagnosis the pain and fatigue as "fibromyalgia" and "chronic fatigue syndrome." These are misdiagnoses, of course. An accurate diagnosis is the chronic hypothyroid symptoms of pain and fatigue caused by the ineffectiveness of T4-replacement.

Yes Shaws I agree a lot with Dr Lowe's findings, they give it all these fancy names now, tangents coming off a long badly treated Hypothyroidism. I have been on Levo for 19 years and finally got an Endo to trial me on T3 NHS. (Was already self medicating with Cynomel, stronger and OK), once you mention than (luckily) it seems to open portals of hope. Still don't feel any better though on T3 she seemed to think it had a placebo effect on me.... What?

Are you on a high enough dose, or maybe NDT would suit you better but I know the impossibility of a prescription on the NHS.

...I think many people here would suggest that your 50mcg T4 is too low a dose. It does of course depend where you are in your treatment - maybe you have just started. Do you have your latest results with ranges ?....could be low FT3 too.

How are your VitD levels ? Also B12 ? Sorry have not read your other posts - in a rush :-)

I was told to cut out coffee so I have AND I have had better sleeps for the last 3 nights. I've still woken but I've managed to git back to sleep quickly.

Thought I'd start the Paleo diet and see if that's helps with my overall health and my lovely hypo belly that I've acquired xx
