Im borderline hypo... waiting to see an endo...

Personally, I think it is a little too low. I am quite fit but since getting better thyroid treatment my resting heart rate has gone up above 60 (used to be around 45).

Are you getting any treatment for your thyroid? If not, you may find that taking some thyroid meds might help this.

Hope it goes well with the endo.

Yes it really does make you feel better. It takes time to get into the bloodstream and there may be a few adjustments on the way but when you are on the right dose it does make you feel better. I still have occasional off days but then dont we all we are human beings not robots. Be blessed and remember you are replacing the thyroid hormone which has been depleted.

Average is 72, but HR declines with age, so an older person may have a lower rate naturally. A fit person is around 60. Seb coe's was 29 !

Mine is around 45 and i cannot get it to go up. I am pretty fit though and play a lot of sport.

I was on levo 25mcg for 3 months and it really helped all my symptoms, but GP took me off of it 10 days ago! feel pretty bad again... Thanks for replies

Why did your GP take you off thyroid meds and especially as it had helped? Thyroid treatment is for life - doesn't your GP realise this?

not convinced im hypo!! so sending me to see an endo now.. I was "borderline"..

in reply tojoannec123

good luck - I hope you get a good one! I'd list the symptoms you had which were helped with the levo as 'borderline' often means 'untreated hypo' and anyone with a TSH above 5 with symptoms should have a trial of levo to see if it helps. I have a link to the BMJ if you need that. xx

thanks, ok. my TSH was 2.3 so not horrendous. But Free T3 and T4 right at the bottom of the scale/ranges...

in reply tojoannec123

I'm sure you know this anyway, but it's the active hormone T3 which is the most relevant isn't it? And if it's low and your symptoms were improving with levo I feel the endo needs to justify why you cannot continue with this treatment. Good luck with your appointment - I'll be interested to see how you get on xx

yeah, that's what my GP mentioned at first when the results came back, hence letting my try levo. then she seemed to panic and took me off of it!!? Hoping the Endo will put me back onto it, maybe 50mcg..... x

in reply tojoannec123

II wonder why she panicked, maybe she just wants a specialist opinion. I hope you get the help you need.

Hi It is lower than ideal. However, in this country it will only be tested for other problems too.It should improve when your thyroid is right for you., it will take a while. However, it would be worth trying to get a home monitor from the gP, probably 24 hours but 7 days better. When my heart was like this, it kept stopping, this was not due to the low HR ( heart rate) but worth making sure. I now have an ICD for other reasons., which keeps my HR higher, but that is for very complicated reasons. Also make sure that you do not have sleep apnea as relevant

Jackie.

not on anything at all now as off the levo - see above! that was only 25mcg anyhow. I think its due to my hypo personally, slow metab.
