being on medication. (levothyroxine) My question is since taking this medication i have gained about 25 lbs. And am retaining a lot of fluid. Is this normsl?

It's not unusual, but it may indicate that you are not optimally medicated yet, and certainly, as a new diagnosis, you should be being checked, and your dose adjusted if necessary, every six weeks or so.

If you are still on a very low dose (25 or 50 mcg) this may be making you more hypo than you were before, hence the weight gain and fluid retention.

Thank you Ansteynomad! My six month checkup next month and was thing maybe i should go in sooner. I also have Parkinson's Disease. Since dx it seems like my organs want to shut down. First was my gallbladder, nothing wrong but it just stopped working. Now my Thyroid..........I just don't know what to think!

Do you have a copy of your last blood test results for your thyroid gland, if so, post them on a new question with the ranges and members will comment. Also state what dose of meds you are taking.

Maybe your gallbladder was due to undiagnosed thyroid gland problem.
