The what not to say to thyroid patients is sooo true fortunately i have never had any of them said to me.

I did however have a doc tell me to eat fever deserts and cakes a few months before i got diagnosed i was so shocked i did not say anything in reply. I never went to that gp again and they have never mentioned my weight again after diagnosis.

My surgeon, who was otherwise very good, actually told me I had the good cancer and a daily pill would replace my thyroid. He also doubted numerous symptoms I had were thyroid related. Subsequently I discovered that they were typical of spiralling Hashi's.

They are excellent Clutter-I would feel like I was moaning even more if I sent one though :-( I try to just get on with it as much as possible. Only my dear husband is treated to my weight, hair, insomnia whinges...not to mention bearing the brunt of my lovely mood swings!

Infomaniac, I think they're more useful for newly diagnosed people but can be useful if someone really want chapter and verse on what the effects can be.
