are there any Thyroid support groups in the gwent area.
Hi foundout, welcome to our forum,
I am sorry you are still unwell after being on levo for about 10 years.
I hope someone will reply re meetings in Gwent.
If you have not had a thyroid gland blood test recently, can you make an appointment to have one and ask the GP for a full thyroid gland blood test including T4, T3. He may not do them all but may do some. Also ask him to check your Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, iron, ferritin and folate as they are usually deficient.
Make your appointment as early as possible and do NOT take your medication until after your appointment - your TSH is higher in the morning.
About 3 days later (tell your GP you want a copy when you make your blood test appointment) and ask the surgery for one. Make sure they contain the ranges and post them all on a new question for members to comment. You may be undermedicated.
Always get a copy of blood tests from now on if you haven't done so before.
Hi there! I'm originally from the Gwent area although I have moved away I still visit. I don't know of any groups but I would be happy to have a natter. I have hypothyroidism, the auto-immune one - Hashimotos. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago, but it took just over 2 years for them to diagnose me. I also have endometriosis now too, something I believe has been caused by my late diagnosis (also an auto-immune condition.) You may need you meds upped, I started on 50mcg and rapidly went up to 150mcg, I was ok for a while and then had a blip and needed them upped again. It's worth having your bloods done to check you are on the right dosage.
Hugs
