With Hypothyroidism can I take Pregnenolone saf... - Thyroid UK
With Hypothyroidism can I take Pregnenolone safely with no headaches?
It's probably difficult to answer since we are all individuals. I'm using a cream form every few days and only occasionally get a headache which I am not sure is even related.
Hi there!
I have been taking Pregnenolone along with my thyroid medication since May this year under the supervidion of a Dr.
I started with a small dose (I seem to remembrr 50) and have increased to 110 which is quite high. I regularly havr blood test that dhow I'm graduslly revovrring from adrenal fatigue but still have a long way ahead.
I have not ecperienced any side effectd or headache. The only thing was: the very firstyime I took it, I was unable to sleep gor two days, it had a strong effect and I thought it wsd a horrible mistake... however suddenly the third night I slept like a baby and felt really well aftrr that.
I have noticed a great improvement. I no longer feel dizzy every time I stand up like I used to (classic adrenal fatigue symptom).
I eould recommend it, however it is potent stuff so the supervision of a Dr and monitoring are important.
All the very best

It never gave me a headache but it never did much for me either.
I see this is an old thread but for anyone interested, today I decided to give pregnenolone another try, taking it with my morning dose of NDT. I use pharma grade powder, taking the dose with vitamin E from a capsule I break open. After a couple of hours, suddenly felt warm, along with an increase in libido(nice)! What led me to add it back into the mix were abstracts on steroidogenisis which I'd been reading. I'd been taking testosterone injections but my response was poor. My urologist and I concur that there are likely problems with my adrenal glands and the pituitary. From my reading, it was clear to me that I needed to supplement the raw materials from which the body makes hormones, along with trying to improve pituitary function.
To that end, taking homebrew topical DHEA, oral pregnenolone@70mg per day, right now, 2 grains of NDT, 10,000 iu of vitamin D, 2mg of K2, 250mg pantothenic acid, 1200mg vitamin C. I'll order tests in a couple of months but the best indicators are how you feel and function. I had quite high numbers when taking testosterone yet felt nothing. My goal is to improve natural production of all hormones in order to restore some balance, bringing those levels back to youthful levels.
