Hi all,

Just a polite reminder that it is always nice for people that have answered a question or post to have their hard work and efforts acknowledged. We don't want thanks but a reply from the poster of the question/post to say that you have read the reply is always appreciated. There is nothing worse that spending 15 - 20 minutes replying to someone in detail only to never hear anything back.

Thank you.

I quite agree, Its good manners. Although its easily done if you dont notice someone has posted a reply to a post you have made, and like me you dont have notifications sent to your e-mail inbox.

Paranoid me is now off to check my previous posts :P

Yes - please use the Reply to this when not at the very top level of a thread - so that the person you are responding to gets an alert email! That is like the oil in a machine - allows it to continue working smoothly.

Why don't you have email notifications sent to your email inbox - tech problem or you didn't want to?

They drive me nuts, I cant abide getting notifications for everything, too messy, I really do try to check back on posts though, but occasionally I might miss one.

I wouldn't be able to do without my email notifications as I am sometimes involved with half a dozen or more posts/question all at once. I would drive myself mad having to keep going back to check. You can pick and choose what you want so don't have to have notifications for everything.

My email notifications go to my laptop, but i am usually on the forum on a tablet so I only see the notifications about every 4 days, when I delete them! Sorry!

I agree that it is really helpful to have some form of response - even if it says "Thanks, but not for me", or "What on earth are you going on about?". They don't have to be positive. Anyone who posts responses will make mistakes, mis-read the question or the person, or simply get it wrong. That is why I would rather people point out mistakes than stay dumb and ignore what I have posted. I can learn as well. Please.

Thank you Moggie.

Good point Rod - although I cant imagine anyone asking you "What on earth are you going on about?", I know I wouldn't dare.lol.

Hi I agree. A lot of people do not realize to reply to a post, we have to click under that posting on "reply to this". it is frustrating. As you know, I sometimes mention it if I do not recognize a name but some people have not liked it!!!!

The other thing is , if they reply on their own question and ask something, else in response, then we do not know and we appear rude!

Best wishes,

Jackie

Thanks for all your comments guys.

This subject has thrown up some very interesting opinions (I put this in the questions section too and it has caused quite a debate) which just goes to show how different we all are on this site and what one person will think is rude another person will not give a second thought to.

Have a lovely weekend.
