Hi everybody... I've just rang my doctors to request he print me a form for a free T3 test but the message has come back from him that there is no such thing! Does the test go under any other name or is just the Endocrinologist that will do that test?

Does a T3 test go under any other name?
That's the right name, but he's probably never heard of it! And the lab is likely to refuse to do it for a GP as well! Even my endo only requested t4, not t3. So you might have to get it done yourself
okay thankyou
Your doctor obviously knows nothing about thyroid gland blood tests. Here is a link:-

The labs refer to the shortened versions, T4, T3, freeT4 and freeT3 etc.
If GP's prescribe, they use liothyrone (T3) or T4 (levothyroxine).
Hello,
I have picked up an NHS blood test form for free T3 blood test this morning. I am taking liothyronine only so any other blood test is not that helpful. My endo who is in a different health authority also requests free T3 blood tests. I insist that my FT3 is tested every time. The lab sometimes don't do it when requested(for me and my mum) and the GP has to re-request it. If you personal message me with your e mail address I could send you a scanned copy of my blood test form with my personal details covered up which you could show your doc. It might vary by region, I guess, but worth a try. Sandra
Thanks so much guys. Sandra if I need it I'll contact you thank you for the kind offer. I will have to go and see him armed with information. Gaynor xx
