Do you know the range the lab uses for T4? I think I would be more interested whereabouts my T3 was as it is the active hormone. T4 being the inactive which should convert to enough T3 but sometimes it doesn't.

Hi, the range is 11-24 and the doctors won't test for my T3. Not sure how else to go about finding that out.

How are you feeling on 150mcg? There are private labs who will do T3 for you and this is a link. I am not sure but I think most use Blue Horizon who does some with a home testing kit.

You get a discount - but not sure if others do.

I feel really ill, tired, migraines constantly. Intolerant to cold, and have been dieting at rosemary conley for 8 weeks and put 2 lbs on! I've been underactive for 11yrs now,

It's time now to learn how you can improve your health. Of course you need your doctor's help but if it's not forthcoming we have to search for the best way. Sometimes it may be simply raising the dose.

For very thyroid gland blood test always get a print-out, with the ranges, for your own records. Mention it to GP so receptionist will give it to you each time. We are entitled. If you have'nt had a Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested, ask for these to be done on your next test. The first two are usually low and can give symptoms too. If you have a query you can post the results for comments.

Do not take your medication on the morning of your thyroid gland blood test, take it afterwards. Have the test as early as possible as that's when the TSH is highest.
