It is a pity we have to educate doctors -if they are willing to listen:-

Excerpt:- It is therefore very important not to miss a diagnosis of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Our instinct tells us the way forward.
Always get a copy of your blood test results and they must have the ranges, otherwise members cannot comment fully. Your GP should also check your Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as first two in particular could be deficient.

The doctors ignore our clinical symptoms but there is no test for depression but are willing to dispense without proof.
Hi, Without knowing the reference ranges of the results you've given us it is difficult to comment, but by just looking at them I would say that for most reference ranges we come across your test results do indeed look as though you are hypothyroid, although your GP will probably adhere strictly to the reference ranges and maintain that you are not. Can you ask him for the reference ranges please?
Also look at this page of the main TUK website and note that doing the full range of thyroid tests will give a clearer picture, and also tests for iron, folates, ferritin, inracellular magnesium, and Vitamins D3 and B12:thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/diagno...
My daughter was also given antidepressants when her TSH level was similar to yours. She wasn't depressed then and she isn't now - fed up, yes, because of her ongoing ill-health, but depressed - never. She threw the pills away.

Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield - in his book - the Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy - states that all people with LOW mood should be checked for Hypothyroidism in the correct way. You probably have a very LOW FT3 - which means your brain will not receive enough T3 for the cells and functions less effectively - as with the body....
The above advice is excellent and one to follow.....
Hi, very interesting as my TSH is 3.5, free T4 11 and free T3 4. I had these tests done privately as I have had many symptoms of hypothyroidism for the last few years although my GP keeps telling me my thyroid test results are within range. She said my symptoms are down to CFS and not due to hypothyroidism.
I am having an ultrasound done this Thursday as she agrees my neck is puffy. I will see her again soon and am going to push for a trial of thyroxine as advised by members of this forum. Last time she told me that under the NHS she can't treat me until my TSH is over 10 and as my TSH was still within range the low FT4 and FT3 must be ok for me. I am going to go armed with plenty of information from the Thyroid UK site as suggested to you above by Shaws. I would be interested to see how you get on. Please keep us posted. I will post here again to update on my progress. Good luck.
I had a similar experience Mands38. Similar results to yours although I don't know what ranges your results have but antidepressants is what I got offered by one doctor. Thankfully that doctor has now left and I am seeing a new one who seems a little better as is at least admitting that it "might" be my thyroid. Good for you for going back and challenging. As others have said make sure you request copies of your results then better replies can be given with the ranges. Good luck and keep us posted.
