Interesting - is it a Finnish study?

I have been looking at something similar but with diabetes etiology (also a incidence graph correlating with low VitD)

A triangle - family susceptibility + environment + trigger (usually virus) = autoimmune disease - can't find the link. J

The Epstein Barr Virus, Cytomegolovirus and HHV6 Virus and others have been linked with thyroid disease too. Unfortunately these can often be stealth viruses and not manifest their insidious symptoms until years later than the initial infection. They require special tests to detect them.
