I asked a Q earlier about sleep paralysis but it doesn't seem to have appeared so trying post
Does anyone on replacement thyroxin, either levo. or natural, experience sleep paralysis?

I experienced it once only with chronic fatigue. I think it's a known sign of a sleep disorder if you are aware of it regularly - we all get sleep paralysis at some stages of sleep ( can't remember which) but are not conscious of it.
sleep paralysis is normal and stops you acting out your dreams
imaging waking up with a black eye
I'm on 50mcg of levo thyroxine for 25years - I've had sleep paralysis every so often. It's absolutely frightening. I've found that it happens more often if I've consumed fizzy drinks - specifically diet coke. I no longer drink any fizzy sugary/ or diet drinks and it's definitely eased off. Hope this is of some help.
Sleep Paralysis is normal and you don't know it's happening unless you wake up and some people do wake up during this and it can be very frightening as you can't move. It has happened to me on the odd occasion it is not particular to Thyroid conditions.
Thanks Phoebs, I do wake up and yes frightening I know I'm in a nightmare and logically I should be able to get out but just can't take action I never experienced it till I was diagnosed hypo. and put on levo.(6yrs. ago), that's why I made the connection i.e the levo rather than the hypo. I expect I was hypo. long before DX Of course if it's a pleasant dream - and this can happen - I'm not bothered about "coming out" I just enjoy the experience, always a plus!!!!
Always have had lucid dreams even as a child and thought everyone did. Maybe the paralysis thing is just another part of the aging process
No the Paralysis is not to do with ageing, every creature has it every time they fall asleep, during "Rem" (deep deep) sleep, it's to stop you thrashing about and falling out of bed or whatever, it's to do with relaxation too. I don't want to get more technical, it's just totally normal.
Thanks again Phoebs It's the first time I think I have been told that something about me is totally normal. You've helped me see the lighter side of sleep paralysis The info I found on the web was much more serious although most sources empathised it was normal
Sleep paralysis is NOT normal ! I get it up to 3 times a night and I have hashimotos. I can't sleep on my back otherwise I 100% get it ... I have to wiggle my toes to get out of it .. also had lucid and Obe 😱😱
Just before starting treatment five years ago, I was getting regular episodes and I had another this morning. My brain's awake and aware that I can't get up and going, and I usually feel guilty. I've been taking a combination of levothyroxine and Thiroyd for nine months and would not say I'm under-substituted, currently.
