On babysitting duties tonight and between the four of them they certainly keep me on my toes (even though I'd love to be in bed.lol.) Will be going to see my 82 year old mum tomorrow with the four of them, so yet another busy day for me, hope yours will be more relaxing but whatever you are doing have a good one and dont forget to give hubbie an extra special news years cuddle - he deserves it after all he has been through.
Wow ! You are going to be busy ....hope all goes well for you .Our two grandchildren are 17 and 15 so the babysitting is long since over! Now we are able to enjoy hearing about all their activities.
Yes,it will be good to have a New Year Cuddle ......at the moment he's fast asleep on the sofa.......didn't get too much sleep in hospital so is catching up I think.X
Thanks Alan ....will do ( when he wakes up....asleep on the sofa .....catching up ! )....just had an E mail from NZ ....of course always the first to arrive into the NewYear and they've been watching the fireworks in Auckland.
We wish you and your family a very Happy and hopefully Healthy New Year .
Hi Marfit - I'm new, so you won't know me. I just spotted the thing about a nose bleed and wanted to ask you something about this. My husband has regular nose bleeds (what is it with husbands and noses, eh?). He seems to have permanent sinusitis and is always blocked up. At night is the worst - he snores terribly! (which isn't good when I'm an insomniac anyway). Has your husband had something similar to this? If so, how did he get it treated and what was the problem? My husband has seen loads of doctors - but they all say they can't do anything about it so just leave it.
Hi there Caroline ....A Happy New Year to you, your husband and his poor nose ! Also welcome to this support group....if you have Thyroid issues you will certainly have contact with a lot of people who will try to help you solve your problems.
I'm afraid I don't know much about the possible connection between Sinusitus and nose bleeds though many years ago I suffered with sinus problems and do know it's very painful..Can imagine the blocked nose could cause a strain on blood vessels.
However,my husband had heart surgery in 2009 and was put on Warfarin to thin the blood afterwards. The nosebleed he had on Friday night was a major torrent which could not be stopped and I was advised by NHS Direct to get him to A&E if we didn't manage to stop it in 10 mts by pinching his nose .hence he ended up eventually in another hospital who had an ear nose and throat specialist unit that could deal with it........plugging the nostrils and finally cauterising the area where the bleed came from.He is fine now and thankfully home for New Year.
It might be an idea for you to look on line for Sinusitus problems .I normally find that there's information that can be searched out for virtually anything!
I hope you are able to help him......I know what you mean about the snoring....It's a problem getting a good night's sleep with thyroid issues anyway and I feel dreadful if sleep deprived. The only help I can give you there is..... Have you got a spare bedroom?........cheeky I know but it helps !!
Hi Margaret - thanks for your response. It sounds like your husband's problem was so much worse than mine - so glad he's fine now. A bit of sinusitis is nothing compared to that!
I'm not a thyroid patient yet - but all my symptoms seem to point to Hashimoto's. So I've been finding out all about it ready to face my GP next week and try to get a referral to an endo. You're right - there are some lovely, really helpful people here - I'm amazed by all the support here!
I hope you manage to get sorted quickly Caroline as it can be quite a journey getting diagnosed along with the right treatment. However,if you have blood tests, the best thing to do is ask for a print out of your results from your surgery( accept nothing less) and post the results on here along with the reference ranges ( in brackets) and there will be someone who can advise you if you need it.
If you are diagnosed with a thyroid condition it's a good idea to keep your own records so you can chart your progress. If you need to see an Endo with good knowledge of Thyroid problems there are lists available from TUK.
What lovely news, it put a smile on my face, so good that you can start the year together in your own home. Wishing you good health and everything you would wish for yourself
