Yesterday I had the spirometry lung function test my endo suggested my GP arrange following my chest xray showing expanded lungs and my complaints of increasing shortness of breath. He suggested COPD based on my heavy smoking prior to quitting 7 years ago.
I knew this was bull and was convinced it was connected to Levothyroxine, which I 'proved', to myself anyway, when I stopped T4 in Sept and finally went completely hypo for 4 weeks to 'detox'.
All the awful side effects, and there were so many I was 95% bed bound, ceased with the exception of some facial pain which is manageable.
My breathing problems improved immeasurably. My responses exceeded the graph dots in all the tests and my 'lung age' even after all the decades of smoking is 3 years younger than my chronological age. The 'official interpretation' won't be sent to my GP for a couple of weeks but I don't need a test to tell me when I'm struggling to breathe.
Trialling Actavis for a month but after 7 days diarrhoea is back, weight is lost, carpal tunnel & palpitations are troublesome. Happily I have T3 and NDT backups so Levo is NOT going to ruin this Xmas.
